The Right to Financial Privacy Act

The Right to Financial Privacy Act was passed in 1978. This act gives individuals the right to keep their personal financial records private.

The Fair Credit Billing Act

The Fair Credit Billing Act helps consumers dispute credit card billing errors. The FCBA was passed in 1970 as an amendment to the Truth in Lending Act. This Act is specifically in place so that billing mistakes can be removed fairly.

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act was passed in 1974 by the Federal Trade Commission.

This act states that all consumers have an equal chance at applying for credit.

Truth and Lending Act

The Truth and Lending Act was passed in 1968 with the intent to protect the public's credit.

Fair Credit Reporting Act

The Fair Credit Reporting Act was passed in 1970 to protect the credit rights of the consumer, as well as regulate the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer data.

The Consumer Credit Protection Act

Consumers want to know, “does this Act have anything to do with credit?”

It actually has more to do with debt.  Did you know your wages could be garnished, if determined by law, to pay back a debt. Money could also be removed from your bank account. Garnishment is the last resort for both collection agencies and the person responsible for the debt. While wage garnishment is evidence of a low credit score, this act doesn't really have to do with your credit report- even thought the word "credit" is in the title.  Garnished wages can be implemented in the case an individual owes money to: a credit card company, the IRS, Child Support and lenders.

ACTS/LAWS

ICC is proud to follow the guidelines and rules implemented by Federal and State Laws. As you know we take the FCRA seriously. We appreciate the other ACTS/LAWS in place too, since they exist to protect consumers from inaccurate credit reporting. Consumer scams and fraudulent activity are corrupting our society! Did you know there are MANY other Acts/Laws that exist to help you!

Changing Your Social Security Number

Consumers want to know with the rising risk of Identity Theft, can a person change their social security number?

Did you know that some victims of extreme identity theft and harassment have found some piece of mind via a new social security number? It is extremely rare and difficult to do, yet possible.
